SUMMARY:Book Signing with Lani Boardman Silversides 5-6pm
DESCRIPTION:Lani (Boardman) Silversides\, a native of York\, is on a personal mission to inspire girls and women to be proud of their strong\, athletic\, and tough selves.  She is doing so through her website www.mystrongisbeautiful.com and her self-published book\, My Strong is Beautiful.  The book features photographs\, taken by Silversides\, of young girls from toddler through high school age being active.  The website has books and gear you can purchase for inspiring and empowering young girls who love sports and being active. It also has free printable PDF activity sheets and a blog you can subscribe to where she plans to share articles and advice for both parents and aspiring athletes.  You can also follow Silversides on Facebook at www.facebook.com/empowerinspireplay and on Instagram @mystrongis_beautiful.  “This is all pretty new and I have only been working on it for a couple of months\,” Silversides says.  “It is a work in progress and something I plan to continue to grow and improve as best as I can.  Modeling is so important for kids at a young age and I realized now having two daughters how few children’s books there are out there that have strong girl athlete characters.  Children are such sponges that I wanted to make sure we were exposing them to books where they can really see all that they can do\, and be\, and become.”  She has more ideas for Children’s books in the works.  \n Silversides is a 2001 graduate of York High School where she earned 12 varsity letters participating in soccer\, basketball\, and track. She was an all-state soccer goalie and state champion hurdler.  She is part of the 1\,000 point and rebounding club for basketball and was Maine female athlete of the year in 2001. She went on to play Division 1 basketball for four years at University of Vermont. Silversides has been inducted into the York High School and New England Basketball halls of fame. She has been teaching mathematics and coaching at Phillips Academy in Andover since 2005. \nBeach Funatic in York Beach next to the Goldenrod has purchased copies of the book and Silversides will be out on their porch on Friday\, July22st from 5:00-6:00pm.  Stop by to chat with Silversides and check out her book and support her! \nFor more information feel free to call Lani’s cell  207-337-0884
